"Aliens" or Monsters

Fear thou, what is not known...Aliens, are they monsters; posing a threat to civilization? What ever the reason may be, humanity has always taken an intrest in the unknown. We tend to envision "ALIENS" as gross creatures, a threatened or feared species. Unlike humans.  They are seen as almost indestructable, huge beastly, dinosauras like species. The movie aliens allows us, as humans to kinda step back or forward for that matter into the future. A scary dark future in which humans encounter the unkown beasterious monsters' the ALIENS. These creatures are attacking the humans who are envading upon their territory. Although it is not meant to be a war against aliens it certainly does turn into that. As humans do we tend to think we are the supreme being over all other existance? Some would strongly argue that, that is not the case. I disagree as well; but throughout history it has become apparent, especially through movies... we place a value on human life. This value can be through money: (example) Burke, is conserned with self indulgence that is elevated through non other than "DOLLAR, DOLLAR BILLS, YA'LL"... making conscious efforts to sacrafice human life to preserve little baby aliens, who will then yield billions of dollars for him upon his return home. Needless to say you reep what you sew, thus Buke dies, while the stalled space ship is attacked by the alliens. Where as in other scenes, some make a conscious decision to sacrafice their life for the preservence of the other humans, showing that humanity comes in many different ways.

Ripley's character in many scenes challenged the normal way of doing things. She is a woman who is submissive at first to her superiors who are men, but at the same time she is compassionate, strong- willed, brave and fearless. when Gore is under pressure to do something to help the others, upon the crews' first innitail attack with the alliens, he becomes stalled. Ripley has no choice but to take controll, thus leading the crew members out of an immediate danger zone.I would say her womanly instincts kicked in. As a mother I feel as though it is up to me to keep things together, especially when they start to fall apart. She is even more corageous when she returns after making it safely into the called upon working space ship to save NEWT. Her bravery saves the captureD child, and a sense of humanity is also depicted through this scene.

The movie Aliens is very unique, it basically challenges the normal view of the world, while still staying true to normal human desires, fears, streaths, sacrafices, bravery and humanity. Fear thou, what is not known? These Alien creatures did not necesarily have a voice in this movie, but the message came across very load and clear. In almost every scene they out- smart the human race, and it was very shocking even when they capture victims. They dont kill those who dont seem to pose a threat right away or at all for that matter.Could there have been some miscommunication between us and them. the answer is yes! ALIENS...

  1. Excellent points -- neither species is native to the planet, so it's interesting to think about who has the right to it.
